An Update on the Fight Against Human Trafficking in Fort Bend County

Rhonda and Traci will update our membership on the fight against Human Trafficking in Fort Bend County.  They will educate the group about how to recognize trafficking, the challenges of the fight against it and what is being done to arrest and prosecute Traffickers in Fort Bend County.  They will also introduce the new Fort Bend Anti-Trafficking Collective and provide information about its work.


Rhonda Kuykendall, MSW, is the Task Force Director for the Fort Bend Anti-Trafficking Collective.  She isa survivor leader, speaker, consultant, and advocate.  She serves as the legislative expert for the National Survivor Leader Alliance and is a member of the Office of the Governor’s Texas Human Trafficking Survivor Leader Council.  She also serves on the Survivor Advisory Board for the Texas Association Against Sexual Assault. Here locally in Fort Bend County, Rhonda chairs the Legislative Advocacy Team on the Board of Directors of Child Advocates of Fort Bend. She received the 2024 University of Houston-Downtown Social Work Person of the Year award and the Paul H. Chapman National Award from the Foundation for the Improvement of Justice in 2023. Additionally, she was awarded the 2015 U.S. Congressional Medal for her efforts in Austin to enact legislation protecting children from sexual assault.  


Traci Bennett is the chief of the Special Crimes Division in the Fort Bend County District Attorney’s Office.  Special Crimes is the division that investigates and prosecutes Human Trafficking cases.  Traci is a 1992 graduate of Louisiana Tech University where she received a bachelor’s degree in History.  She graduated in 1995 from the Paul M. Hebert Law Center at Louisiana State University.  Traci has been a prosecutor for approximately thirty years and has tried over 100 jury trials.  She has prosecuted the most serious crimes in both Texas and Louisianan including murders, sexual assaults, human trafficking and death penalty cases.   Traci is also the current Co-VP of Programs for the Fort Bend County Republican Women’s Club.
